They can be. An acquaintance of mine actually died two months ago from birth control pills. She was healthy with no chronic diseases of any kind and was 25 years old. She died from a blood clot. While those serious complications are rare, they do happen. Another friend of mine went off of birth control didn’t have her period for a year. Then sometimes she’d get it twice in one month, no period for 4 months — her cycle was completely jacked up.
I’ve had more friends who have had issues with birth control than any positive outcomes. Only one friend of mine uses it for acne purposes (and it works well). I would consider using oral antibiotics, topical treatments and diet changes before using birth control. That should be your last option.
There have been so many studies about the good and the bad of birth control pills. Some say it is good for this and others say it is bad for that. Most of these studies were ordered and paid by pharmaceutical companies. I am not saying they are dishonest but the studies want to result in a good outcome so they sell more pills.
I tried these tablets when they first came onto the market and when I was 10 years younger than you are today. They did not help me and I could not continue to take them because of the side effects. But I know my dad would not have prescribed them if he did not believe they could help. Guess you won’t know until you have tried, because every body is different in how they respond to medication.
no they r not harmful at all they are birth control pills and even if you are not sexually active lots of girls take them to control their periods and help with acne. it usually does help a lot of girl. it helped cut back on my acne and regulate me so go a head and try.
personally I would try tooth paste. As much as it sounds crazy, the tooth paste will dry your skin , and “suffocate” if you will, the acne, it works for me and im 18. It should clear up within a 3-4 days.
For someone your age, they are relatively low risk. However, some forms of ‘the pill’ actually can exacerbate acne, so you’d be best asking your ob/gyn which are best.
I took them in high school and had almost no acne.

Most of these are not common.
i have herd some many stories about this but
one of my friends had really bad acne and once she started to use the ‘pill’ her skin cleared up so well.
